‘Beautiful Firetail’ (Stagonopleura bella) is a hand-coloured variable edition linoprint on acid free white 210 gsm paper. Signed with a red chop mark seal and edition number and date. It includes a signed certificate. It is one in a series of four linocuts of Kangaroo Island’s woodland passerines.
These fabulous birds are rated ‘Rare’ in South Australia and a ‘Species of Concern’ on Kangaroo Island but are a common sight at a waterhole that is nestled in remote rarely disturbed bushland on my heritage listed KI property.
I enjoy the meditative process of using water colours where my original black and white linoprint image comes to life like the flashes of colour when these shy birds are sighted in the bush.
