For a long time I’d had the idea of making a print featuring my favourite vase made in 2003 by my friend Lincoln Kirby-Bell, filled with my favourite flowers. An invitation to take part in recent exhibition of and inspired by ceramics prompted me to at last get it out of my head - this print is listed as 'Sunflowers'. While I was carving the block, in front of me on the table next to the vase was this chough vase, a recent gift from Lincoln, filled with Billy Buttons - my second favourite flowers. Along with the ever present cup of coffee.
By sheer coincidence the mug was made in 2013 and the chough in 2023, meaning these two prints represent three decades of LKB.
Lincoln Kirby-Bell is a well-known and highly respected Adelaide ceramicist, currently living in Penzance England.
