Mia Fan

Mia Fan is a Hong Kong-Australian artist whose practice merges traditional Chinese techniques with contemporary themes. Trained in Fine Art at the University of East London, Mia deepened her understanding of art history with a post-graduate degree from the University of South Africa. Her studies in Chinese painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore are evident in her work, where she blends delicate ink techniques with modern sensibilities. Mia’s work explores identity, heritage, and the immigrant experience. Her compositions are noted for their meticulous detail and thoughtful use of light and shadow, bridging past and present. Whether depicting serene landscapes or intimate portraits, Mia’s art invites viewers into a dialogue that transcends cultural boundaries. In 2024, Mia was recognised as a finalist for both the Don Dunstan Foundation Award and The Advertiser Contemporary Art Award, celebrated for blending the ancient with the modern.
