Kaspar Schmidt Mumm

I was born in Göttingen, Germany in 1990. I lived in Hannover for the first ten years of my life, with a Pakistani, Colombian, Canadian upbringing. In the year 2000, my family immigrated to South Australia. My mother, an artist, uses art for rehabilitation in hospitals and community centres. It is her ability to engage in extremely complex human relationships which has informed the foundation of my practice. Today, I am one of the founders of The Bait Fridge and lead vocalist of the band Slowmango with recent performances at Dark Mofo, The Substation and Darwin Festival. Using large scale puppetry, live music, costume, painting and performance I create systems intersectionality through contemporary art. My current work explores Paper Maché Furniture and wearable sculpture. I am currently studying a Masters at the Universität Der Künste: Berlin - Kunst Im Kontext and will exhibit at Adelaide Contemporary Experimental as part of the Porter Street Commission.
