West Beach Boat Ramp

"West Beach Boat Ramp" explores the serene yet dynamic intersection of human activity and natural beauty. Inspired by frequent visits to West Beach, where the tide mirrors life's ebb and flow, this piece is deeply personal. Using oil paint on linen, I achieve vibrant colours and rich textures that bring this landscape to life. The fluid brushstrokes reflect the ever-changing seascape, while the paint highlights the man-made elements. This work is part of a series on coastal landscapes, capturing my connection to these spaces and their ability to evoke both peace and excitement. The location is particularly meaningful, as my Opa’s ashes were scattered here, and my Oma and I often walked to the boat ramp, reminiscing about their time together. The West Beach boat ramp symbolises a blend of nature and human presence. Through this piece, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the colours and textures, finding their own stories within the waves and sky.
