Between a Rock and a Hard Place

'Between a Rock and a Hard Place' is a hand-coloured limited edition linoprint on acid free white 210 gsm paper. The sky is the usually unpainted white paper giving it a more contemporary appearance. Signed with a red chop mark seal and edition number and date below the print on the right-hand side. It includes a signed certificate. I enjoy the meditative process of using water colours where the original black and white linoprint image comes to life. I love the intense orange of lichen that clings to the rocks. Lichen are a combination of algae and fungus that live together in a symbiotic relationship. The algae provide food by photosynthesis, while the fungus provides a protective environment for the algae. Painting this print always gives me a time a reflection of why I live here rather than there as the scene is looking across Backstairs Passage to the 'big island' of Australia.
