Geert was born in the late fifties of the last century in the Netherlands. After migrating to Australia in the early eighties, he followed a life changing Illustration and Design course. After working as an illustrator and graphic designer in Australia and Europe, he taught these professions for fifteen years at tertiary education institutions in Adelaide, South Australia. Geert is an avid and very experienced traveller and he has been on long and challenging adventures in many places on the globe. Sketchbooks are part of his standard travel kit, and he has always kept his love for ink and paper, and it is why he puts a lot of energy into designing printed books. In his studio in Adelaide, he relives his travels by writing and designing illustrated books, as well as turning the sketchbook studies into paintings.
