Deb Trae

Deb Trae is a storyteller in charcoal and pastel, capturing emotion and spirit through every mark. Based in Wisanger on Kangaroo Island, she lives and works among the bushland and ocean views that inspire much of her art. Deb’s works, such as Flamingo Moon and Lost & Lonely, showcase her signature blend of realism and atmosphere—where animals, nature, and emotion intersect. Often working from powerful reference photos, she finds inspiration in wildlife, rural life, and the quieter emotional undercurrents of everyday moments. Her recurring themes include solitude, resilience, and the deep connection between living beings and their environments. Whether drawing an old weathered tap or the silhouette of birds at dusk, Deb brings each subject to life with sensitivity and purpose. She also shares her passion through art classes at Rose Cottage Farm, helping others discover their own creative voice.
